Abstract
The author analyzed 119 patients who had been admitted to in Kwanghye Hospital with clinical signs and symptoms of the spontaneous intracerebral hematoma disease from May 1995 to November 2002. The author analyzed patients with spontaneous intracerebral hematoma disease and compared the results of treatment between two groups : 67 cases were operated by stereotactic evacuation of hematoma with CRW system and 52 cases by open craniectomy and removal of hematoma.
The obtained results are summarized as follows.
1. The incidence gradually increases for each decade and peaks in the sixth decade. Of these, 48.7% were women and 51.3% were men.
2. The associated disease were common in hypertension, heart disease and diabetes. The hypertension history on admission was 78 cases (65.5%).
3. The hospital days were 40.6 days in stereotactic operation and 26.5 days in craniectomy operation.
4. The level of the consciousness on admission was alert in 2.5%, drowsy in 38.7%, stupor in 43.7%, semicoma in 14.3% and coma in 0.8%.
5. The most common site was putamen : 47 cases in stereotactic operation and 30 cases in craniectomy operation.
6. Rebleeding were 6 cases : 4 cases in stereotactic operation and 2 cases in craniectomy operation.
7. Motality of total cases were 19 cases (16.0%).
